A novel, neurologically based behavioural treatment to manage symptoms of ADHD
The Problem
- ADHD brings with it a host of behaviours which seem paradoxical, confusing (to the people with ADHD, as well as to those around them)
- People with ADHD engage in a variety of behaviours (such as procrastination, novelty seeking, and anxiety) that are "effective" in the short term, but which can have devastating long-term impacts on self-confidence, relationships, career and academic success, and physical and mental health
- Treatment with medications helps many people with ADHD, but many people cannot take medications because of side effects or health concerns
- Even with medication, most adults with ADHD continue to struggle with their symptoms
- Currently, most of the recommended psycho-social treatments are some form of cognitive-behavioural treatment, which require sustained attention and effort - something people with ADHD aren't very good at
- Many therapists approach ADHD symptoms from a random, behavioural, coaching perspective without having the knowledge of underlying dynamics needed for a longer term and more effective approach
The Solution
… there is another way to conceptualize ADHD behaviours
... you had a better understanding of that different conceptualization
… you had a structured approach to addressing individual symptoms
... you understood how anxiety can be an "adaptive symptom" of ADHD or a separate disorder, and how to treat each differently based on the origin of the anxiety
... you could help clients understand the addictive nature of their ADHD behaviours, and support them in finding better ways to cope I can help you with that! |

That’s why I developed the
Breaking the ADHD Code
program
Breaking the ADHD Code (BTAC)
- Approximately 6 hours of pre-recorded videos (the same videos that comprise the "Adrenaline Addiction in ADHD" program - https://aaa.cambiumed.ca)
- Either 4 weeks or 1 full day of live online training to help you understand these concepts at a deeper level and to know how to implement them with clients
- A follow-up class one month after the initial training to help you implement the strategies with clients
- Ongoing free monthly webinars to support implementing the program
- Specific focus on understanding how the Adrenaline-Dopamine Cycle and the ADHD Wave can lead to negative behavioural and health outcomes
- Strategies to address specific ADHD challenges, including sleep, anxiety, nutrition, and self-regulation
- Discussion of specific challenges you will encounter with clients when working within this program
- Specific focus on dealing with trauma when working within this model
- A guidebook and materials that you can use to help guide your work with clients
The BTAC program is the therapist training program for a model of ADHD that I have developed. To get an overview of this model, click the link below to watch the free introductory video.
Who is This Course For
- You are a professional therapist or coach who is interested in learning more about really helping people with ADHD
- You feel frustrated at a lack of progress in otherwise highly motivated clients
- You lack the tools beyond CBT to help ADHD clients address everyday challenges
- You want a new, more effective model for treatment of ADHD in adults, youth, and children.
By the end of this course, you will understand:
- Why adults with ADHD keep cycling through different challenges in the therapists office;
- How adrenaline-seeking behaviours stimulate dopamine release, and become addictive;
- The impact of the Adrenaline-Dopamine cycle on the lives and mental health of adults with ADHD;
- How the Adrenaline-Dopamine cycle impacts relationships;
- The role of predictable fluctuations in energy, mood and focus in many adults with ADHD;
- How to help adults with ADHD think differently about medication
- Practical, ADHD-specific strategies to address lifestyle factors, including sleep, nutrition, and self-regulation;
- And most importantly, how to use this knowledge to help your ADHD clients make real changes in their lives.
What People are Saying About BTAC
I'm receiving such gratitude and appreciation for this information from my clients. Thank You!
Sarah-Louise Murray, B3 Psychological Services, Alberta, Canada
Thank you Linda for sharing your wealth of ADHD experience, knowledge and wisdom with people living with ADHD, and those of us who work in the ADHD community. I’ve worked with individuals with ADHD for 12 years now, and your adrenaline/cortisol addiction model is one of the most exciting things that I have seen in this field for a few years. Your model makes so much sense of ADHD behaviors and experiences and with that, you’ve created a coherent and practical treatment protocol.
I’m so appreciative of your generosity in sharing resources on-line for the public as well as offering your time, knowledge and support for professionals. You truly have contributed to our profession and made a difference.

I found the "Breaking the ADHD Code" workshop run by Linda to be informative on a theoretical, biological and experiential level. As a relatively new therapist to the field, ADHD is a frequent challenge I see in my practice that many clients have been diagnosed or begin to realize are strongly connected to presenting concerns of anxiety and emotional dysregulation. This course really helped lay a foundational understanding of what may be going on in the brain with ADHD, how it translates to certain behaviours / patterns / challenges as it relates to the adrenaline / dopamine cycle. Linda's teaching videos are sequential, and have a lot of "meat' that requires several rounds of rewatching to let the information sink in for therapists and clients alike. I feel much more confident in using her model and understanding of ADHD to help my own clients and look forward to implementing it in my work.

Linda Tilley's "Breaking the ADHD Code" training is informative and relevant to my work as a psychotherapist. I feel much better equipped to work with clients who have been diagnosed with or present with symptoms of ADHD in my practice. Linda Tilley has a wealth of knowledge and experience in treating clients with ADHD. Her warm and approachable style greatly enhanced my comfort level and learning experience. I highly recommend the course for anyone working with this population.

I recently completed the training and this model resonates strongly with my clients. Their eyes tend to light with a spark of recognition and then a relief that they are not alone in their experience. The materials are well organized, engaging, and practical. Much gratitude to Linda Tilley for this very helpful training."

Yesterday was excellent!! I am impressed with the work and your knowledge and expertise. With participants from across Canada I see great potential for further workshops and the implementation of your work to benefit others. As a presenter you are down to earth and authentic, making the participants feel comfortable and engaged.
Wendy Creighton-Lacroix, Edmonton, Canada
I really enjoyed and learned a lot from the Breaking the ADHD code.I also want to say how refreshing it is to learn something from a practitioner's experience instead of from research.It fits my learning style. I learn better from real people who have reflected on real experiences.Therese Gallant, New Brunswick, Canada
